We have been reminding big brother all month that his birthday is over and that is now time for baby Jesus’ birthday! This year I picked up a “Happy Birthday Jesus” plate for us to use. We are making a birthday cake with candles on Christmas Eve to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. At the age of 3, this is something that he really can understand and will give us something to build on in the future!

I love this idea. B and I have been speaking recently about this topic ... about how we're going to handle Christmas/Santa/Jesus' birthday when we have kids. And I love the idea of trying to make Jesus' birthday visual and tangible for little kids. :)
ReplyDeleteLindsay, I love the Christmas plate! Where did you find it? This is our first year doing the birthday cake for Jesus, and I'm so excited! We are trying to teach this to Lucas, and Jeremy's whole side of the family will be down this year, so we'll have lots of nephews and one niece to blow out the candles with us. And I love that Kristen, below in her comment is talking about this with Brandon- how cool, it's like we're still in the same town.. except not exactly.. :( lol
