Lately I have been listening to podcasts by Homemakers by Choice. One of my mentors encourages me to always keep learning about how to keep and take care of a home and I love some of the ideas I have gotten through this ministry. Recently I listened to a podcast about meal planning and grocery shopping. Since B was born, groceries have been a little more of a challenge. I wonder how some of my friends with more children do it! Fortunately Kroger has car carts, which are not so great for maneuvering around the store but oh so great for entertaining D. I put him in the car in the front of the cart and I have been wearing B in a Baby Bjorn which has worked out great until it is time to unload the cart at checkout. I feel like I am banging him into the cart every time I bend over! In the podcast on grocery shopping, she suggested placing hand held baskets inside the grocery cart to help organize and make it easier at checkout. Not sure why I never thought of it, but it worked out great! It was nice to just lift the basket out and not have to bend and reach so many times. My grocery were more organized in my bags when I got them home.

Please don’t judge my groceries. All the fruits and veggies are at the bottom of the basket. Yes, I know that is a LARGE bag of sugary cereal. For the record, it is for Hal. He loves Captain Crunch and I am too cheap to buy it, so it gets the Kroger brand! :)
How do you manage the grocery store with kiddos? Any tips you would share?
The way I manage it is to try not to go with three boys at one time. However, that is impossible. So, my goal is to keep Easton in the cart at all times and then hope the rest goes well!! I know what you mean about having a baby to deal with....I would put Ethan in the front part and then Eli in his carseat sideways across the top. It was a nightmare because I got about 10% of what I actually needed to fit in the cart. Oh well!! It's dramatic to say the least!! And half the time I forget my list! Glad to see you are getting it figured out.. Wait til you add that third child. It's a whole new dimension!
ReplyDeleteI heard that Wal-Mart is testing a new service to have groceries delivered to you ... maybe I will try that out when #3 comes along! :)
